Bound carbon typescript transcript of James Henry Morley's daily diary recording in detail his experience as a gold miner in Montana. Morley describes traveling by steamboat to Fort Benton, prospecting and working as a miner both alone and with mining associations, attending miners meetings, serving as juror for cases of murder and claim jumping, surveying new towns, witnessing clashes between Indians and whites, and participating in town organization meetings for Marysville and Centreville.
